Workshop Services
GAINS offers a variety of customized workshops to meet schools' specific needs. Below is a sampling of previous workshops that have been offered.
Introduction to the GAINS Model for Success (1 hour)
Audience: Administrators
Outcomes: This workshop is a session for administrators to understand each essential, systemic part of the GAINS Model to maximize student achievement.
Understanding a Standards-Based Philosophy (3 hours)
Audience: Administrators and Participating Staff
Outcomes: This workshop includes a presentation and activities on the basic components of
a standards-based philosophy: standards, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Aligning Assessments with Standards (4 hours)
Audience: Course/Grade Alike Staff
Outcomes: This workshop is for course alike teams, working with already developed interim
assessments or developing additional
course-based assessments aligned with
standards and course materials.
Administer Standards- based Assessment (2 hours)
Audience: Course/Grade Alike Staff
Outcomes: This workshop is to support teachers in administering unit, interim, and final
assessments based on the standards assigned their courses/grades.
Analyze Assessment Data (2 hours)
Audience: Administrators and Course/Grade Alike Staff
Outcomes: This workshop will provide teachers and staff with an opportunity to examine
the results of assessments in order to find instructional strengths and weaknesses,
identify students to monitor achievement, and use item analysis to understand
student misconceptions.
Intervene to Change Practices (4 hours)
Audience: Course/Grade Alike Staff
Outcomes: This workshop will provide teachers an opportunity to share what they have
learned by using assessments to determine student skills. It will also provide
research-based interventions that have been successful in increasing student
achievement.
